Vida y pensamiento de Paulo Freire

Abstract

Freire sorprendió al mundo educativo y cultural con su muerte repentina acaecida en mayo pasado. El pensamiento de Freire, como el pensamiento de cualquier autor, no se puede comprender si no se comprende su vida y el contexto en el cual vivió, al educador que nació en Recife y murió en Sao Paulo, originario del Estado de Pernambuco, al noreste de Brasil y "ciudadano del mundo". Por eso decía él que "no es posible ser ciudadano del mundo sin ser primero ciudadano de Recife. De Recife en cuanto es el contexto de origen que me marcó, me marca, me marcará". Por esa razón, dedicamos una parte de este trabajo a los aspectos más importantes de su vida para luego hablar de su pensamiento.
