Incubación artificial de huevos de la tortuga lora lepidochelys olivacea, reptilia cheloniidae sometidos a sustratos de diferente procedencia

Abstract

Se trabajó con 594 huevos de Lepidochelys olivacea obtenidos en Playa Nancite, sitio de desove masivo de la especie en Costa Rica; fueron incubados artificialmente utilizando como sustratos de incubación arena de cuatro sectores diferentes de ella, arena esterilizada, arena de un sector de Playa Naranjo y espuma de poliuretano. El incubador permitió mantener ámbitos de temperatura y humedad semejantes a las de los sitios desove natural de la especie: 33,4 a 29,8 C° y 9,4 a 18,0% de humedad en el sustrato. La espuma de poliuretano resultó como el sustrato más eficiente.

We worked with 594 Lepidochelys olivacea eggs obtained from Playa Nancite, a massive spawning site of the species in Costa Rica; They were artificially incubated using sand from four different sectors of it, sterilized sand, sand from a sector of Playa Naranjo and polyurethane foam as incubation substrates. The incubator allowed to maintain ranges of temperature and humidity similar to those of the natural spawning sites of the species: 33.4 to 29.8 C ° and 9.4 to 18.0% humidity in the substrate. Polyurethane foam was the most efficient substrate.
