Análisis e implementación de una biblioteca virtual especializada en biodiversidad para el centro de información y documentación “OTUS” del Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad.

Abstract

El libro ha tenido diversos formatos a lo largo de nuestra Historia, pero desde la aparición de los medios de comunicación electrónicos y digitales su forma y condición ha sufrido cambios profundos, CD-ROM, DVD e Internet han favorecido la divulgación masiva de los llamados “libros eléctricos” y han creado nuevas posibilidades laborales y de uso a bibliotecarios, usuarios, librerías, autores y lectores en general. El paso a lo nuevos libros no está sin embargo exento de problemas, y entre ellos se encuentra la piratería y la preservación de los derechos de autor; la creación de verdaderas bibliotecas y librerías virtuales en entornos tridimensionales; la valoración académica de los textos; los contrastes sociales que en el mundo de la cultura el acceso a internet; o el hipotético enfrentamiento entre el libro impreso y electrónico. Asimismo, ya se aventuran algunas características futuras de estos últimos libros, como la pérdida del texto, el pago de derechos de acceso a los autores a través de la red o la modificación de los circuitos de venta.

The book has had various formats throughout our history, but since the appearance of electronic and digital media its form and condition have undergone profound changes, CD-ROM, DVD and the Internet have favored the massive dissemination of the so-called " electric books” and have created new employment and use possibilities for librarians, users, bookshops, authors and readers in general. The transition to new books is not without problems, however, and among them is piracy and the preservation of copyright; the creation of true virtual libraries and bookstores in three-dimensional environments; the academic evaluation of the texts; the social contrasts that in the world of culture access to the internet; or the hypothetical confrontation between the printed and electronic book. Likewise, some future characteristics of these latest books are already being ventured, such as the loss of the text, the payment of access rights to the authors through the network or the modification of the sales circuits.
