This study focuses on the linguistic attitudes shown by speakers in Guanacaste and in the central valley of Costa Rica, regarding these linguistic varieties of Spanish, in a sample of university students (Universidad Nacional, Heredia, Costa Rica). An analysis is carried out on their attitudes contrastively towards the linguistic varieties of Spanish in Guanacaste and the central valley. A five-level Likert scale questionnaire and three open questions are used in an instrument to collect data on linguistic attitudes toward these two groups of speakers.
