Factores académicos que influyen en los estudiantes de educación diversificada de dos colegios de la Dirección Regional de Educación de Pérez Zeledón, en la elección de la ciencia natural que presentarán en las pruebas de bachillerato, durante el curso lectivo 2013

Abstract

La presente investigación se realizó en Pérez Zeledón específicamente en dos colegios de la Dirección Regional de Educación de dicho cantón, durante el curso lectivo 2013. En la misma participaron estudiantes de educación diversificada de un colegio con modalidad técnica y de otro con modalidad académica. Se investigaron los factores que influyen en la elección de la ciencia natural al momento de realizar las Pruebas Nacionales de Bachillerato; de allí que el propósito de la investigación consistió en un análisis de los factores académicos que incidieron en los estudiantes de undécimo y duodécimo nivel, al momento de tomar dicha decisión. Este estudio ha sido justificado tomando en cuenta que según las estadísticas brindadas en los informes nacionales del Ministerio de Educación Pública, se indica que la mayoría de los alumnos se orientan hacia la Biología como primera opción. Por esta razón se pretendió realizar una investigación que pudiera explicar los motivos que originan estos resultados y tratar de comprender este fenómeno. Esta investigación se sustentó en la educación científica del país, principalmente en las Pruebas de Bachillerato, las cuales constituyen parte primordial de la educación diversificada, al tomar en cuenta los factores académicos que influyen, como: el perfil e influencia docente, las metodologías implementadas en el aula, la percepción, la actitud y la afinidad de los estudiantes; además de las modalidades educativas tomadas en cuenta. En la metodología, el trabajo realizado se abordó desde un paradigma interpretativo, el cual se basó en un enfoque mixto, tomando una muestra del 50% de un total de 220 estudiantes, también seis docentes de ciencias y dos directores. El procesamiento de los datos permitió determinar que un factor influyente en los estudiantes es el empleo de metodologías atractivas por parte del profesor, generando confianza y dominio de los contenidos en una determinada ciencia; también la afinidad y facilidad de dominio del alumno hacia la asignatura es otro factor que media en la escogencia de la ciencia para presentar las Pruebas de Bachillerato. Con la investigación se comprueba que los docentes perciben a la Física como una asignatura complicada y abstracta para los estudiantes; y que la percepción de la mayoría de los estudiantes, es que la ciencia más idónea para realizar las Pruebas de Bachillerato es la Biología.

The present investigation was carried out in Pérez Zeledón specifically in two schools of the Regional Directorate of Education of said canton, during the 2013 school year. Diversified education students from a school with a technical modality and another with an academic modality participated in it. The factors that influence the choice of natural science at the time of taking the National High School Tests were investigated; Hence, the purpose of the research consisted of an analysis of the academic factors that affected the eleventh and twelfth level students, at the time of making said decision. This study has been justified taking into account that according to the statistics provided in the national reports of the Ministry of Public Education, it is indicated that the majority of students are oriented towards Biology as their first option. For this reason, it was intended to carry out an investigation that could explain the reasons that originate these results and try to understand this phenomenon. This research was based on the scientific education of the country, mainly in the Baccalaureate Tests, which constitute a fundamental part of diversified education, taking into account the academic factors that influence, such as: the profile and influence of teachers, the methodologies implemented in the classroom, the perception, the attitude and the affinity of the students; in addition to the educational modalities taken into account. In the methodology, the work carried out was approached from an interpretative paradigm, which was based on a mixed approach, taking a sample of 50% of a total of 220 students, also six science teachers and two directors. The processing of the data allowed us to determine that an influential factor in the students is the use of attractive methodologies by the teacher, generating confidence and mastery of the contents in a certain science; also the affinity and ease of mastery of the student towards the subject is another factor that mediates in the choice of science to present the Baccalaureate Tests. With the investigation it is verified that the teachers perceive Physics as a complicated and abstract subject for the students; and that the perception of the majority of the students is that the most suitable science to take the Bachillerato Exams is Biology.
