Influencia del currículum de Biología de la Educación Secundaria en la percepción que tienen los estudiantes y docentes con respecto a la Biotecnología

Abstract

La biotecnología ofrece múltiples herramientas para responder a desafíos actuales mediante técnicas conocidas a nivel mundial. Por ello se crea la necesidad de que el sistema educativo oriente la educación al generar una serie de estrategias que habiliten espacios de aprendizaje para el desarrollo de habilidades en el pensamiento sistémico, crítico y la resolución de problemas. Surge entonces la inquietud de conocer la influencia del programa del ciclo diversificado en el área de Biología, en la percepción de los estudiantes hacia la biotecnología, en el cual se seleccionó tres colegios diurnos de la Regional de San Carlos, para generar información relevante a ser tomada en cuenta en la ejecución del currículo de secundaria en este tema, por otra parte, brindar aportes que fortalezcan la enseñanza de esta temática en este nivel. En este sentido, se trabajó con estudiantes, profesores y asesores, los cuales fueron entrevistados para obtener de ellos el conocimiento y percepciones que poseían sobre la Biotecnología. Se concluyó que el plan de estudios de Biología deja por fuera muchos conceptos relacionados con la Biotecnología limitando la percepción de los estudiantes, al tomar en cuenta que los profesores son poco innovadores durante sus clases mas que todo por la falta de tiempo con el que cuentan en Educación Diversificada, por otro lado se rectifica que el profesor debe asumir un gran reto ante la ciencia y tecnología en el desarrollo de sus clases para mantener motivados a los estudiantes y acercarlos a la misma.

Biotechnology offers multiple tools to respond to current challenges through techniques known worldwide. For this reason, the need is created for the educational system to guide education by generating a series of strategies that enable learning spaces for the development of skills in systemic, critical thinking and problem solving. Then the concern arises to know the influence of the diversified cycle program in the area of ​​Biology, in the perception of the students towards biotechnology, in which three day schools of the San Carlos Regional were selected, to generate relevant information to be taken into account in the execution of the secondary curriculum on this subject, on the other hand, provide contributions that strengthen the teaching of this subject at this level. In this sense, we worked with students, teachers and advisors, who were interviewed to obtain from them the knowledge and perceptions they had about Biotechnology. It was concluded that the Biology curriculum leaves out many concepts related to Biotechnology, limiting the perception of students, taking into account that teachers are not very innovative during their classes, mainly due to the lack of time they have. In Diversified Education, on the other hand, it is rectified that the teacher must assume a great challenge in the face of science and technology in the development of their classes to keep students motivated and bring them closer to it.
