Implicaciones sociales, personales y laborales que enfrentan las personas con discapacidad visual, auditiva y motora en el cantón de Pérez Zeledón, 2010

Abstract

Esta investigación tuvo como finalidad conocer las implicaciones sociales, personales, y laborales de las personas con discapacidad auditiva visual y motora en el cantón de Pérez Zeledón. Tiene un enfoque cualitativo y es de tipo caso múltiple. Se realizó mediante estudios de casos múltiple con la aplicación de entrevistas a nueve personas con discapacidad: visual, auditiva y motora, ocho familiares de las personas con discapacidad y ocho representantes de la sociedad. Cada instrumento tenía interrogantes acerca de cada una de las situaciones antes mencionadas; en las implicaciones sociales se tomaron en cuenta temas como: aceptación y estereotipos, discriminación, miedo, desconfianza e indefensión; en las implicaciones personales temas como: superación personal, proyecto de vida, expectativas vocacionales, autonomía, la familia y habilidades. En las implicaciones laborales se indagó sobre: aceptación y oferta laboral, así como accesibilidad e implicaciones legales. Los resultados demuestran que son poco aceptados por la sociedad, pues estas personas reciben burlas, discriminación o son estereotipados; lo que permite que no se les dé el lugar que merecen. La familia es el principal ente que les da seguridad, protección y apoyo en sus metas que, como personas, poseen cada una de ellas. Allí les ayudan a desarrollar sus habilidades y los hacen sentir eficientes y con grandes deseos de lucha y superación. Dicha investigación permite reconocer que las personas entrevistadas están conscientes de la existencia de la ley de Igualdad de Oportunidades, sin embargo, ésta no se cumple como debe de ser, pues la escasa accesibilidad lo demuestra, así como las pocas oportunidades de estudio, lo que genera a su vez pocas oportunidades de trabajo. Es por las conclusiones anteriores que se recomienda concientizar a la población sobre el tema de discapacidad que esta población tiene el derecho de gozar de todos los beneficios y oportunidades que gozan las personas que no poseen una discapacidad.

The purpose of this research was to learn about the social, personal, and occupational implications of people with visual and motor hearing disabilities in the canton of Pérez Zeledón. It has a qualitative approach and is of a multiple case type. It was carried out through multiple case studies with the application of interviews to nine people with disabilities: visual, hearing and motor, eight relatives of the disabled and eight representatives of society. Each instrument had questions about each of the situations mentioned above; in the social implications, topics such as: acceptance and stereotypes, discrimination, fear, mistrust and defenselessness were taken into account; in the personal implications, topics such as: self-improvement, life project, vocational expectations, autonomy, the family and skills. In the labor implications, we inquired about: acceptance and job offer, as well as accessibility and legal implications. The results show that they are little accepted by society, since these people are mocked, discriminated against or stereotyped; which allows them not to be given the place they deserve. The family is the main entity that gives them security, protection and support in their goals that, as people, each one of them has. There they help them to develop their skills and make them feel efficient and with great desire to fight and overcome. This research allows us to recognize that the people interviewed are aware of the existence of the Equal Opportunities Law, however, it is not fulfilled as it should be, since the scarce accessibility shows it, as well as the few opportunities for study, which in turn generates few job opportunities. It is because of the above conclusions that it is recommended that the population be made aware of the issue of disability, that this population has the right to enjoy all the benefits and opportunities that people who do not have a disability enjoy.
