Los efectos de la relación del déficit fiscal y de cuenta corriente en Costa Rica (1995-2019). Lineamientos para la toma de decisiones

Abstract

En el segundo capítulo se realiza una explicación de los canales de transmisión entre la balanza fiscal y de CC; lo anterior, analizando el comportamiento costarricense desde una perspectiva tanto teórica como gráfica. En el tercer capítulo se desarrolla el modelo empírico, el cual se sustenta en la metodología de los modelos VAR. Se utiliza las funciones impulso respuesta para contrastar la relación entre el déficit fiscal y el déficit de CC en la economía costarricense. Por último, en el cuarto capítulo se presentan las condiciones que explican la situación costarricense respecto al tema de los déficits gemelos, y qué políticas son necesarias llevar a cabo para mejor la situación económica y social de país.

In the second chapter, an explanation of the transmission channels between the fiscal and CC balance is made; the foregoing, analyzing Costa Rican behavior from a theoretical and graphic perspective. In the third chapter, the empirical model is developed, which is based on the methodology of VAR models. The impulse response functions are used to contrast the relationship between the fiscal deficit and the CC deficit in the Costa Rican economy. Finally, the fourth chapter presents the conditions that explain the Costa Rican situation regarding the issue of twin deficits, and what policies are necessary to carry out to improve the country's economic and social situation.
