La incidencia de la aplicación de los temas transversales en la vivencia de valores por parte de los estudiantes del Liceo Canaán y Liceo La Uvita durante el primer período del año 2004

Abstract

El objetivo del informe de Tesis es analizar la incidencia de la aplicación de los temas transversales en la vivencia de valores de los estudiantes del Liceo Canaán y Liceo La Uvita durante el primer periodo del año 2004. La investigación se llevó en los Liceos ubicados en los circuitos 05 y 04 respectivamente, de la Dirección Regional Educativa de Pérez Zeledón, tomado en cuenta al 100% de los profesores, sesenta y siete estudiantes, que corresponde a un 20% de la población; que se distribuirán en un 45% para el Liceo Canaán que corresponde a treinta estudiantes, divididos de la siguiente manera: seis cuestionarios para cada nivel; y un 55% para el Liceo La Uvita correspondiente a treinta y siete, que se dividirán de la siguiente manera: nueve cuestionarios para noveno nivel, por ser el grupo de mayor tamaño, y siete para los demás niveles.

La muestra se selecciono al azar, donde los nombres de cada uno de los estudiantes se encontraban en un recipiente y de allí se obtuvieron, esto para cada nivel. Se escogió un 45% para el Liceo Canaán y un 55% para el Liceo la Uvita, ya que la diferencia entre estudiantes de ambos Liceos es de un 5%.

Los instrumentos fueron elaborados de tal manera que recopilaron la información necesaria para realizar la investigación. Estos fueron formulados para aplicarse a los docentes y estudiantes de los respectivos Liceos.

Para efecto de la investigación se utilizaron dos instrumentos estructurados con un formato donde cambia la cantidad de ítemes para cada variable de acuerdo a la población a quien se dirige el instrumento.

Al surgir en el año 2003 la aplicación de los temas transversales en el currículo escolar, como medida por parte del gobierno de enfrentar los cambios sociales, económicos, culturales, científicos, ambientales y tecnológicos del mundo contemporáneo, que han exigido al currículo educativo no solo aportar conocimientos e información, sino, también favorecer el desarrollo de valores, actitudes, habilidades y destrezas, que apunten al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de ras personas y de las sociedades. Sin embargo, existe en el Sistema Educativo Costarricense una dificultad real de incorporar nuevas asignaturas o contenidos relacionados con los temas emergentes de relevancia para nuestra sociedad, pues se corre el riesgo de saturar y fragmentar los programas de estudio existentes. Una alternativa frente a estas limitaciones es la Transversalidad.

El fin de nuestro trabajo es brindar mayor información a todos aquellos interesados en la aplicación de los temas transversales y emitir una luz de alerta a las entidades correspondientes debido al descontento de los docentes por la poca ayuda brindada.

The objective of the Thesis report is to analyze the incidence of the application of the transversal themes in the experience of values of the students of the Canaán High School and La Uvita High School during the first period of 2004. The research was carried out in the high schools located in circuits 05 and 04 respectively, of the Regional Educational Directorate of Pérez Zeledón, taking into account 100% of the teachers, sixty-seven students, which corresponds to 20% of the population; which will be distributed in 45% for Liceo Canaán corresponding to thirty students, divided in the following way: six questionnaires for each level; and 55% for Liceo La Uvita, corresponding to thirty-seven students, which will be divided as follows: nine questionnaires for the ninth level, since it is the largest group, and seven for the other levels.

The sample was selected at random, where the names of each of the students were found in a container and from there they were obtained, this for each level. Forty-five percent were chosen for Liceo Canaán and 55% for Liceo La Uvita, since the difference between students of both high schools is 5%.

The instruments were elaborated in such a way that they gathered the necessary information to carry out the research. They were formulated to be applied to the teachers and students of the respective high schools.

For the purpose of the research, two structured instruments were used with a format in which the number of items for each variable changes according to the population to whom the instrument is addressed.

In 2003, the application of cross-cutting themes in the school curriculum emerged as a government measure to face the social, economic, cultural, scientific, environmental and technological changes of the contemporary world, which have required the educational curriculum not only to provide knowledge and information, but also to favor the development of values, attitudes, abilities and skills aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals and societies (Regional Framework of Action for "Education for All in the Americas" Santo Domingo, 2000).

However, there is a real difficulty in the Costa Rican Educational System to incorporate new subjects or contents related to emerging issues of relevance to our society, as there is a risk of saturating and fragmenting the existing study programs. An alternative to these limitations is Transversality.

The purpose of our work is to provide more information to all those interested in the application of transversal subjects and to alert the corresponding entities due to the dissatisfaction of teachers for the little help provided
