Algunos aspectos sobre los transgénicos

Abstract

Durante los años 1950-1960, se implantó en todo el mundo el modelo industrial de la agricultura, conocido como la Revolución Verde (agroquímicos), donde aumentaron los rendimientos productivos, pero con consecuencias nocivas para la sociedad, el ambiente y la seguridad alimentaria. Al respecto, en 1987 la Organización para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO) declaró la necesidad de cambiar a un sistema de agricultura sostenible, que perdure, sin impactos ambientales perjudiciales para la salud ni el ambiente, que conserve la fertilidad de los suelos y la biodiversidad. SI bien la agricultura ecológica es una necesidad y no una opción, para la sostenibilidad, no es este el camino que se está adoptando.

During the 1950s and 1960s, the industrial model of agriculture, known as the Green Revolution (agrochemicals), was implemented throughout the world, where production yields increased, but with harmful consequences for society, the environment and food security. In this regard, in 1987 the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) stated the need to change to a sustainable agriculture system, which lasts, without harmful environmental impacts on health or the environment, and which preserves soil fertility and biodiversity. While organic farming is a necessity and not an option, for sustainability, this is not the path that is being adopted.
