Características deseables del docente en ciencias en el marco de la metodología de la indagación en la regional de Guápiles Costa Rica

Abstract

La docencia requiere de cualidades y características que faciliten la promoción de habilidades, competencias, actitudes y conocimiento, que cautiven a los estudiantes en su proceso de aprendizaje. El objetivo de la investigación fue caracterizar al profesor en enseñanza de las ciencias con el fin de lograr un acercamiento y punto de partida con los perfiles propuestos por el MEP en los nuevos programas de estudio de ciencias, basados en la metodología de la indagación. Se aplicó como técnica de recolección de datos la de grupo focal con 25 profesores, y la encuesta con 120 estudiantes de undécimo nivel. Se resaltan como características deseables del profesor, la vocación para enseñar, el comprender al estudiante, el manejo del contenido, la diversificación de estrategias que promuevan la exploración, el análisis, la reflexión y la motivación, entre otros. En conclusión, en la actualidad el docente no debe ser un transmisor de conocimiento como verdad absoluta, sino un facilitador, además de considerar al estudiante un arquitecto y constructor de su propio conocimiento.

Teaching requires qualities and characteristics that facilitate the promotion of skills, competences, attitudes and knowledge, in order to captivate the students in their learning process. With the aim of characterizing the professor in teaching Sciences, this investigation was performed to have an approach and starting point with the profiles proposed by the MEP in the new study programs of Sciences, based on the methodology of the exploration. The 25 teacher focus group with 79 eleventh grade students surveyed was applied as the data collection techniques. The results highlighted as desirable characteristics of the teacher: the vocation to teach, understand the student, content management, diversification of strategies that promote exploration, analysis and reflection of what is intended, motivation among others is important according to teachers and students. In conclusion, the teacher must not be a passive subject or transmitter of knowledge as absolute truth, but rather a facilitator of this process, where the student is considered an architect and builder of his own knowledge.
